Art Ready students at work in the studio with Beth Dary

We have had a great start to our studio sessions.  The first week we talked a lot about what art means to us as individuals and what we hoped to learn and accomplish during the semester and then jumped right into a still life drawing that came to be titled “peppers with personality” by the students.

This week we started off with contour drawings of paper bags using charcoal for the first half of the session – we all agreed it was a good way to get focused in the studio.  We spent the second half of the class working with modeling clay.  The ultimate goal is to create plaster molds for the clay models and start casting with paper pulp — stay tuned for the finished pieces!

Next week we will be meeting up with Cecile Chong’s Art Ready students to visit the Museum of Modern Art to see the Abstract Exhibit- very exciting!
