I am writing to introduce you to City Art Lab, a free after-school program for teens in New York City.

Creative Arts Workshops for Kids and City College of New York are once again collaborating on this innovative project that helps teens build a portfolio while working with outstanding teaching artists. As in previous years, over the course of 12 weeks, participants will investigate multiple ways to make art, from printmaking and drawing to sculpture and interactive art. Teens will explore these different approaches to creating art with practicing artists from City College of New York. Final collaborative works will be publicly exhibited.

City Art Lab classes are FREE, and all art supplies are provided. All New York City high school students are welcome to apply, there is no need for previous art experience.

Classes will meet on Wednesdays from 4:10-6:45 from February 12 – May 14 in the Art Department at City College (Room 303E Shepard Hall) at 160 Convent Avenue and 140th Street. Participants must be able to attend every session. City Art Lab will culminate with a special student-centered Gallery Exhibition. The opening reception will take place on Friday, May 16.

The application should be completed online at: http://tinyurl.com/CityArtLab2014, application deadline: January 31, 2014.
